um tonight is very interesting because we’re continuing on with this series of
the fast for the release from the foreign marriages and so this is part
seven and so if you’re just joining us and you’re new to everything you’re
going to want to back up to the very first one on writing the storms entitled
release of the foreign marriages and then and then come forward and you can
catch up um to where we are so in this Edition we
are looking at settling for stew now what in the world Jesse
where would this come from why are we settling for Stu is this what we’re doing because it sounds big we are not
settling for steel Tracy amen no settling for this it’s a warning it’s a
warning you know I think too often we settle for this stew as we get into this conversation and we need to not settle
for this too so really you know what this is about it’s about Deliverance
it’s about considering the Lord’s House as he’s calling us to govern his house and have charge in his courts
and it’s about that relationship with the Lord which needs to be based off of
a few things uh first Faith which comes by hearing his word
second belief which really is faith in action so the third thing is action and
obedience they all kind of work hand in hand as we’re going through this fast
um you know as we look at his word that’s going to build our faith it’s going to tell us what God’s will is for
our lives and how we’re to live that out and as we receive that word and believe
it the next step is action we need to be obedient to it and that’s the place you
know in between that belief and action is where a lot of us will settle for
stew so we’re gonna talk about this a little bit tonight let’s turn to Genesis 25.
and this is the story you know we’ve got Jacob and his brother Esau
and uh let’s go ahead Tracy if you want to go
ahead and read that where would you like me to start would
you like me to start let’s start with verse 27 through okay let’s do 27
through 34. all right very good when the boys grew up Esau was a cunning and
skilled Hunter a man of the outdoors but Jacob was a plain and quiet man dwelling
intense and Isaac loved Esau because he ate of
Esau’s gang but Rebecca loved Jacob Jacob was boiling pottage otherwise
known as lentil stew in my Bible one day when Esau came from the field and was
faint with hunger and Esau said to Jacob I beg of you
let me have some of that red lentil stew to eat for I am faint and famished
this is why his name was called Edom meaning red
and Jacob answered then sell me today your Birthright
I mean what a bargain right give me this too and the other brother says give me
your birth right like I’m not a fair trade at all like what
oh my goodness and uh Jacob said swear to me today
that you’re selling it to me and he swore to Jacob and sold his him his
Birthright then Jacob gave you saw bread and stew of lentils and he ate and drank and Rose
up and he went his way thus Esau scorned his Birthright as
beneath his notice ouch that hurt right
oh my goodness and you know let’s talk for a minute we we’ve been talking about
our own birth rights through this fast that one of our birthrights is that we
have been purchased to be a kingdom of priests to be holy to the Lord
um one of the other ones we talked about Jeremiah one the other day where in there the Lord says I formed
you I knew you I anointed you I appointed you as a prophet to the
Nations in Ezekiel 16 the Lord says while you
were despised and destitute I walked by and I said to you live
in John 14 verse 19 he says because I live you shall live new and set apart
um in Ephesians 3 he talks about the maturity the full measure given to us in
Christ Jesus so all power all authority and we’ve broken that down in several
other shows where we talk about you know what do we have the authority
over you know it goes back to the Great Commission that we have the authority to heal the sick to raise the dead to cast
out lepers to or I’m sorry to cleanse lepers and cast out demonic spirits
so all of these things are part of our holy birth right
and it’s all connected to that relationship that we have with the Lord and we see in this that Esau
you know being the firstborn um that he had all those same rights he
was called to those same things through um Abraham and Isaac and um
had all those same opportunities yet what happens
sells it all he sells it all and why
because he was so hungry famished I mean think about that what does it
take you know like it just perplexes me like if you have everything you have
your father’s land you have the Sheep you the donkeys whatever else they had
you have you’re the one who has this full inheritance
and really he sells it for a meal right I mean it also it sounds like he
had so much favor from his dad he he has he has the inheritance he has
the good relationship in the favor so but why
and we’re the same way um I want to bring up you know I cannot
remember which um which uh Charles spurgeon’s sermon it
was but I used to read a lot of those and I would document them in my journals so
Charles Spurgeon spoke on this matter and he said what is your bowl of stew
what are you willing to sell everything that you have in Christ for
and he says at some point you will face a choice between future gain
which is what the Lord has for you and present pleasure do you do not act on impulse like Esau
consider your decision and seek God’s will and I just thought that is such a wise
And Timely thing in this is that you know as we continue in this fast the enemy is going
to tempt us you know he’s going to attempt us to to take back those old things that we are you know parting from
he might tempt us with new things um you know that look like it’s what
we’re praying for or what we’re asking for um you know or it might even be you know I
think specifically when I say this uh specifically to those who are bound
or have been bound by the prostitution and the pornography where the enemy hits and attacks and
says just one peak one peak’s not gonna kill you you know and really is that your bowl of
Stew you know what if God is preparing a relationship for you that is so beautiful it’s everything
that you dreamed you hoped for everything you’ve wanted
um and yet are you going to really give it up for the single moment of pleasure
um that isn’t even going to be the pleasure that you really desire because you desire that in real time not just
you know pleasure of the eyes and and feeling some of the emotions but you really
desire that that relationship and are you going to give that up
so very timely word and um so how do we go about considering God’s
will that’s what he says you know consider God’s will what is the future
game that you have so let’s look at Tracy if you want to
look up Joshua 1 and we’ll read verses 1 through 9.
after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord the Lord said to Joshua son of
none Moses’s minister Moses my servant is dead
so now arise go over this Jordan you and all this people into the land which I am
giving to them the Israelites every place upon which the soul of your
foot shall tread that I have given to you as I promised Moses
from the Wilderness and this Lebanon to the great river Euphrates all the land
of the Hittites and to the Great Sea on the west shall be your territory
no man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life as I was with
Moses so I will be with you I will not fail you or forsake you
be strong and of good courage for you shall cause this people to inherit the
land which I swore to their fathers to give them only you be strong and very courageous
that you may do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you
turn off from it to the right hand or to the left that you may Prosper wherever
you go this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth but you shall
meditate on it day and night that you may observe and do according to
all that is written in it for then you shall make your way prosperous and then
you shall deal wisely and have good success have I not commanded you be strong
vigorous and very courageous Be not Afraid neither be dismayed for the Lord
your God is with you wherever you go
man there’s the relationship you know yes he is with us
and what happens when we know you know that’s where our faith is
spurred into that belief like we know that God is with us and because of that
we can be courageous and such powerful words in there you know I’ve given to
you you know the Nations the that conquering
over every evil that was there the lord gave that to them and he’s given it to us
and you know as Spurgeon talks further about this courage he says if you are
without courage then you’re discouraged you don’t have courage
and he said the first thing you must do is ask God to wipe away your fear and
remind you of his power you know his arm is not too short that he can’t give us
a land even you know in those days when Joshua and Caleb went with the 10 other
spies into the land um or you know there were 10 spies that went into that land what what was the
report was that you know we can’t do this there’s Giants
in the land we’re scared we’re fearful and the first thing that you know Joshua
and Caleb say is this is a good land we got this God’s given it to us
so that’s the type of Courage that we need to have knowing that even if we’re facing Giants
that the Lord is with us and his power is going to get us through not our own
power not our own might you know we don’t deliver ourselves
um it’s a working relationship it within that relationship you know there’s
things that the Lord has us do we have a part we have to respond you know if he
is holding out a gift to us we have to take the gift if we don’t he’s he’s just gonna stand
there holding it until we do um if he tells us you know that we need to
confess our sins we can’t just sit there and say okay Lord take away my sin we
have to be willing to give it up to turn away from it and to confess it so
there’s always that working relationship with the Lord um through that Deliverance
uh Spurgeon says you know that if your disc that discouragement is a lack of
confidence a feeling of dismay and a loss of motivation regarding something
that brings fulfillment and purpose and what that comes down to is really
why do we have a lack of confidence great question I mean is it ourselves it is our lack of
confidence in ourselves or is it really in the Lord that we don’t trust that God
can do it or that God will do it that’s a big one and it’s one that we
often won’t admit to ourselves and just be raw and real with him
well right or we we take it on ourselves and say oh
well really it’s just me like I don’t think I can do it and we try to
personalize it but the truth is is really you know we have such a great
Deliverance that the Lord literally says he takes away our sins violently from us
um he says that you know he cleanses us from all unrighteousness and if he sat
there and washed us clean from all that unrighteousness we’ve died with him and
he’s raised us to New Life what is left he’s done it all it’s already done so
why would we pick it back up why would we roll around in the mud again
um after he’s already done all that work and is it you know really I mean what a slap in
the face we’re saying Lord your work is not good enough
that’s really what we’re saying Lord your work is not good enough so that’s the ultimate you know lack of
action and obedience we’re not responding in belief we’re responding in
disbelief and distrust
that you got that looking we need to change that yeah change that
Trixie so really this is a heart matter
um you know when we lack that courage when we’re discouraged we need to say
okay what am I discouraged about and what is it really about
what am I viewing God in all of this as what am I viewing his power his might
his Deliverance in this situation uh where is the disbelief you know do I
believe that he will really never give me a good relationship do I believe that
he wants me to sit in front of a computer looking at porn in order to be satisfied every night
you know that’s not his will for us um he desires us to have that Covenant
marriage relationship and if he says that he will provide it we need to trust
that he’s going to provide that um you know does he want our marriages
to be in Discord where we’re yelling and fighting and not fulfilling each other’s
needs that’s not what he wants for our marriages
so the shift has to come in that relationship with him first we have to
believe that he’s able to say that he’s able to
um help us make that change and really you know that’s what the stew was about
was that Esau was lazy he didn’t want to spend time making his own meal after he
had been hunting and you know he was willing to give up everything just so he didn’t have to do
it in that moment so he didn’t have to do any work or be obedient to feed himself
I never looked at that that story that way before
that he was just too lazy to take the time
to just do it and prepare things right so that he could truly enjoy
my goodness totally forfeiting the future and the wealth of the future
essentially for just that quick the quick momentary
convenience wow wow to me now that on demand I’m
hungry I want it now or you know I want the satisfaction I want
the pleasure I want that now instead of waiting
this is talking to multiple people yes right myself included yes I’ve got to
throw myself in there so let’s look at Proverbs three okay and
why don’t you read verses 25 through 26. 25 through 26 have no as we’re talking
about food I go to turn to this passage and instead I get an ad that pops up
that says four minute mug cinnamon rolls oh my goodness there’s two of them oh my
gosh okay yum and chorizo and bean tacos boy they just aren’t giving up here Bean
tacos oh okay so cinnamon rolls and Tacos in the middle of the and those are
quick those are quick meals right they’re quick microwave in the cup four minutes
oh that’s so wrong on so many levels I didn’t do it it was just the ad that
popped up that’s so hilarious but it was funny that it goes with what we’re talking
about yeah it completely goes with what we’re talking about yes so I’ll just
make the statement I don’t want the four minute cinnamon roll bun thingies I want
the full boat roll them out let it rise I want the whole enchilada thank you
very much in Jesus name I just said that out amen oh shoot okay
so where are we from three uh Proverbs 3 25 through 26.
I have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked
for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared
my version says for the Lord will be your confidence ooh so our confidence is to rest on him
as we look at that word the Hebrew for confidence you can look it up in your
Strong’s Concordance it would be in the Hebrew number three six eight nine
and it means fatness um you know it’s like that flank part
uh another word it means this lion um which when we think of that we think
of The Bravery the confidence The Fighter uh the trust
so it’s a very we’ll say a very fat dense word confidence
and if the Lord is to be that for us that that peace that holds everything
together um you know we need to allow him to be that
confidence for us and then go ahead and let’s look up Matthew 8 or sorry Matthew one
and we’re going to start at verse 18. okay and go to chapter
the end of that passage basically this is how the birth of Jesus the
Messiah came about his mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph but
before they came together she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit
because Joseph her husband was not was okay back up I’m having I’m struggling
because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law and yet did not want to
expose her to Public Disgrace he had in mind to divorce her quietly but after he
had considered this an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said Joseph son of David do not be afraid to
take Mary home as your wife because what is conceived in her is from the Holy
Spirit she will give birth to a son and you are to give him the name Jesus because he
will save his people from their sins all this took place to fulfill what the Lord
had said through the prophet the Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son
and they will call him Emmanuel when Joseph woke up he did what the
angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife
but he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son and he
gave him the name Jesus such a beautiful passage and you know
exactly what we’re talking about here that’s even brought out in Joshua 1 1-9
you know that Jesus received the name Emmanuel meaning God With Us that that
was part of the prophecy spoken over his birth and what does that mean God With Us
you know the angel foretold that that you shall name him Jesus because he
shall save the people from their sins and when we’re looking at that word sin
here in this passage the Greek it means sin missing the Mark
um so you know we think about that you know certainly accepting Ebola stew and
exchanging your inheritance for that definitely is missing Mark
um so there’s so much in this that you know as we continue to work through this
fast really take some time to look through what are you struggling with what are
you um where are you compromising with these altars that you’ve just torn down is
there anything that you’re struggling with if so you need to lay that down before
the Lord to say Lord I’m not going to let this be my stew I want you Jesus
more than this and I want your will for my life not my own choice I want your
will and I’m going to trust that it’s the best that it is exactly what I need
I’m going to trust that it’s going to be fulfilling and that there isn’t going to be things
I regret I’m not going to regret passing up this moment of pleasure
because I know that what you’re about to give me is so stinking good that I will
praise you forever I will give you thanks I will glorify you
um you know and there’s another part in here too that you know in the Proverbs
passage it says do not fear sudden disaster or ruin you know that the
wicked experience and how many times do we say well you know
it’s not going to come tomorrow it’s not going to come the next day in fact I might have to wait years and I’m not
willing to do that so let me take care of this now let me get this pleasure now
you know how many times do we say that and in that you know we give up waiting
for that promise and we need to stop doing that we need
to instead activate our belief and to say okay Lord you know even like Abraham if I have to
wait to the point where I’m almost dead to have what you have promised to me I’m
believing that you’re going to give it to me and that it will be good
and that’s where you know the relationship building with the Lord comes
that is so good to remember that to take to take the time and not step over today
you know what I mean okay you can you can change the entire outcome by being
in agreement with the Lord and moving forward in that he’s going to help you along the way so even if you do stumble
not like you said not returning back to it not putting on those filthy garments
of Shame and everything else again um to remember that his mercies are new
in every morning and to make sure that we are just setting forth to
to serve him and not serve our own little wants and desires especially
these altars that that try to pop up to completely steal from our relationship with him and then right we end up
stealing from ourselves in the long run and don’t even realize it and others too
yeah yeah others because who are we meant to be in that relationship with and we steal from them as well
absolutely and you know and so along along those lines of of relationship
um like I’m single you’re single
so there there it’s it would be very easy to just be like well I’m single so
I’m just gonna live my life however and yeah I I’m thinking of the future I’m
thinking in terms of the Lord has someone for me
okay so why in the world do I want to almost mess with that plan at all why do I want
to even dally with anything anyone else in in that regard like uh like it’s
waiting for the promise that it almost feels like like being unfaithful like a
pre uh an infidelity almost I don’t know how
else to put it then again though I’m processing this live so there you go um so I’m baking the cake in front of
you you get to see the whole I’m like Swedish Chef right now with my thoughts no this is good because this is how we
think so yes carry on because how many are really thinking you know in that same position thinking the same thing
I hope yeah and it probably needs to be talked about because it doesn’t always get talked about and on the regular
Sunday morning at church I mean um of these things that we really struggle with there there might be a a
conversation about pornography or something like that but we’re lost maybe even but the whole you know be being
single and following the Lord like what does that really look like and the
decisions that you have to make um every day because you are constantly
reminded essentially of the of the singleness you know until until he
brings you know that which you’re going to be able to compliment it’s like we’re we’re whole in him and the other person
becomes a complete con even if it’s just a friendship it’s like the wholeness must come from him first
and then we have the compliments of the the other folks my goodness
the displaying you know that he when we think about that going back to you know
the last show where we talked about Ezekiel chapter 16.
where he says you know I adorned you um you know he adorned he made the
wedding dress he you know prepared and got ready everything so there’s that
idea of allowing the Lord to prepare um we see that same concept you know
with Isaac and Rebecca how you know Abraham send out his servant to find his
son a wife and you know they didn’t know who they were gonna get you know he went
out and he he brought the woman to Isaac uh to be the wife and you know so
allowing the Lord to work and again you know it goes back to that trust in that
relationship you know are we taking the time to talk through it with the Lord
you know if he if he knows what’s best if he knows what he has for us are we
willing to wait for that and to see you know what he’s gonna do
amen amen it could be a hard place to be in you know
yeah it’s having that the all of the all of the fruit of the spirit certainly develops through that through that
process of of waiting and uh yeah yeah oh my goodness so much to think about
and pray through yes well if others have thoughts questions processing you know
please send it to us and we’ll you know we want to really enter into this discussion during this time and
um so let us know and we’ll we’ll continue the conversation as we continue
this fast so that’s right we pray we pray through we pray through your
messages and your comments and so uh yeah we’re we’re there with you we’re
right there with you all right well let’s pray Heavenly
Father we just thank you for this time together Lord and we thank you that you are faithful Lord that even at times
like in Abraham and Sarah’s case Lord it seemed like forever Lord it it seemed
like you were not going to keep your promise yet in all of that your word says that
Abraham considered he considered everything that was happening to him and Sarah he considered them as good as dead
and yet he believed even in spite of that that you would fulfill your promise
to him so Lord help us to come to that place to know in all these things that as we
um give to you these desires that we struggle with these Pleasures that we
have um that we have learned to put in our lives as vices things that we give
our time our effort our energy our devotion our love to instead of you Lord
help us to see these things plainly and to throw them to cast them off from
ourselves and to really seek you to seek having the relationship that we want
with you Lord um you are what we desire and as I’m
saying all that Lord You’re reminding me that tonight Wednesday evenings are when we are to come into your courtrooms into
your house and we are to ask to receive from your hand the goodness
that you have for us for this week so Lord we come we just open up our arms
and I ask that you would show each of us tonight the goodness that you have for
us to receive and um I look forward to hearing from everybody
what that is we just praise you we thank you we ascribe to your name the glory
the honor um that is do it thank you for being who you are Lord in your name we pray Jesus
thank you Lord amen amen right

are looking at settling for stew now what in the world Jesse
1:39
where would this come from why are we settling for Stu is this what we’re doing because it sounds big we are not

2:57
know in between that belief and action is where a lot of us will settle for
3:03
stew so we’re gonna talk about this a little bit tonight let’s turn to Genesis 25.
3:13
and this is the story you know we’ve got Jacob and his brother Esau
3:22
and uh let’s go ahead Tracy if you want to go
3:27
ahead and read that where would you like me to start would
3:32
you like me to start let’s start with verse 27 through okay let’s do 27
3:38
through 34. all right very good when the boys grew up Esau was a cunning and
3:45
skilled Hunter a man of the outdoors but Jacob was a plain and quiet man dwelling
3:52
intense and Isaac loved Esau because he ate of
3:57
Esau’s gang but Rebecca loved Jacob Jacob was boiling pottage otherwise
4:06
known as lentil stew in my Bible one day when Esau came from the field and was
4:12
faint with hunger and Esau said to Jacob I beg of you
4:19
let me have some of that red lentil stew to eat for I am faint and famished
4:26
this is why his name was called Edom meaning red
4:32
and Jacob answered then sell me today your Birthright
4:40
I mean what a bargain right give me this too and the other brother says give me
4:46
your birth right like I’m not a fair trade at all like what
4:53
oh my goodness and uh Jacob said swear to me today
5:00
that you’re selling it to me and he swore to Jacob and sold his him his
5:07
Birthright then Jacob gave you saw bread and stew of lentils and he ate and drank and Rose
5:14
up and he went his way thus Esau scorned his Birthright as
5:22
beneath his notice ouch that hurt right
5:28
oh my goodness and you know let’s talk for a minute we we’ve been talking about
5:33
our own birth rights through this fast that one of our birthrights is that we
5:39
have been purchased to be a kingdom of priests to be holy to the Lord
5:46
um one of the other ones we talked about Jeremiah one the other day where in there the Lord says I formed
5:54
you I knew you I anointed you I appointed you as a prophet to the
6:01
Nations in Ezekiel 16 the Lord says while you
6:07
were despised and destitute I walked by and I said to you live
6:14
in John 14 verse 19 he says because I live you shall live new and set apart
6:24
um in Ephesians 3 he talks about the maturity the full measure given to us in
6:32
Christ Jesus so all power all authority and we’ve broken that down in several
6:37

and it’s all connected to that relationship that we have with the Lord and we see in this that Esau
7:11

7:32

7:38
because he was so hungry famished I mean think about that what does it

8:03
and really he sells it for a meal right I mean it also it sounds like he
8:10
had so much favor from his dad he he has he has the inheritance he has
8:16
the good relationship in the favor so but why
8:23
and we’re the same way um I want to bring up you know I cannot
8:29
remember which um which uh Charles spurgeon’s sermon it
8:35
was but I used to read a lot of those and I would document them in my journals so
8:40
Charles Spurgeon spoke on this matter and he said what is your bowl of stew
8:48
what are you willing to sell everything that you have in Christ for
8:54
and he says at some point you will face a choice between future gain
9:00
which is what the Lord has for you and present pleasure do you do not act on impulse like Esau
9:09
consider your decision and seek God’s will and I just thought that is such a wise
9:16
And Timely thing in this is that you know as we continue in this fast the enemy is going
9:22
to tempt us you know he’s going to attempt us to to take back those old things that we are you know parting from
9:30
he might tempt us with new things um you know that look like it’s what
9:37
we’re praying for or what we’re asking for um you know or it might even be you know I
9:45
think specifically when I say this uh specifically to those who are bound
9:50
or have been bound by the prostitution and the pornography where the enemy hits and attacks and
9:57
says just one peak one peak’s not gonna kill you you know and really is that your bowl of
10:04
Stew you know what if God is preparing a relationship for you that is so beautiful it’s everything
10:12
that you dreamed you hoped for everything you’ve wanted
10:17
um and yet are you going to really give it up for the single moment of pleasure
10:23
um that isn’t even going to be the pleasure that you really desire because you desire that in real time not just
10:32
you know pleasure of the eyes and and feeling some of the emotions but you really
10:38
desire that that relationship and are you going to give that up
10:44
so very timely word and um so how do we go about considering God’s
10:52
will that’s what he says you know consider God’s will what is the future
10:57
game that you have so let’s look at Tracy if you want to
11:03
look up Joshua 1 and we’ll read verses 1 through 9.
11:11
after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord the Lord said to Joshua son of
11:18
none Moses’s minister Moses my servant is dead
11:24
so now arise go over this Jordan you and all this people into the land which I am
11:31
giving to them the Israelites every place upon which the soul of your
11:37
foot shall tread that I have given to you as I promised Moses
11:44
from the Wilderness and this Lebanon to the great river Euphrates all the land
11:49
of the Hittites and to the Great Sea on the west shall be your territory
11:56
no man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life as I was with
12:03
Moses so I will be with you I will not fail you or forsake you
12:10
be strong and of good courage for you shall cause this people to inherit the
12:16
land which I swore to their fathers to give them only you be strong and very courageous
12:24
that you may do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you
12:30
turn off from it to the right hand or to the left that you may Prosper wherever
12:36
you go this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth but you shall
12:42
meditate on it day and night that you may observe and do according to
12:48
all that is written in it for then you shall make your way prosperous and then
12:54
you shall deal wisely and have good success have I not commanded you be strong
13:01
vigorous and very courageous Be not Afraid neither be dismayed for the Lord
13:09
your God is with you wherever you go
13:14
man there’s the relationship you know yes he is with us
13:20
and what happens when we know you know that’s where our faith is
13:25
spurred into that belief like we know that God is with us and because of that
13:31
we can be courageous and such powerful words in there you know I’ve given to
13:37
you you know the Nations the that conquering
13:42
over every evil that was there the lord gave that to them and he’s given it to us
13:49
and you know as Spurgeon talks further about this courage he says if you are
13:56
without courage then you’re discouraged you don’t have courage
14:02
and he said the first thing you must do is ask God to wipe away your fear and
14:08
remind you of his power you know his arm is not too short that he can’t give us
14:15
a land even you know in those days when Joshua and Caleb went with the 10 other
14:20
spies into the land um or you know there were 10 spies that went into that land what what was the
14:27
report was that you know we can’t do this there’s Giants
14:33
in the land we’re scared we’re fearful and the first thing that you know Joshua
14:39
and Caleb say is this is a good land we got this God’s given it to us
14:45
so that’s the type of Courage that we need to have knowing that even if we’re facing Giants
14:51
that the Lord is with us and his power is going to get us through not our own
14:56
power not our own might you know we don’t deliver ourselves
15:01
um it’s a working relationship it within that relationship you know there’s
15:07
things that the Lord has us do we have a part we have to respond you know if he
15:14
is holding out a gift to us we have to take the gift if we don’t he’s he’s just gonna stand
15:21
there holding it until we do um if he tells us you know that we need to
15:27
confess our sins we can’t just sit there and say okay Lord take away my sin we
15:33
have to be willing to give it up to turn away from it and to confess it so
15:40
there’s always that working relationship with the Lord um through that Deliverance
15:46
uh Spurgeon says you know that if your disc that discouragement is a lack of
15:53
confidence a feeling of dismay and a loss of motivation regarding something
15:59
that brings fulfillment and purpose and what that comes down to is really
16:05
why do we have a lack of confidence great question I mean is it ourselves it is our lack of
16:14
confidence in ourselves or is it really in the Lord that we don’t trust that God
16:20
can do it or that God will do it that’s a big one and it’s one that we
16:26
often won’t admit to ourselves and just be raw and real with him
16:33
well right or we we take it on ourselves and say oh
16:38
well really it’s just me like I don’t think I can do it and we try to
16:43
personalize it but the truth is is really you know we have such a great
16:49
Deliverance that the Lord literally says he takes away our sins violently from us
16:57
um he says that you know he cleanses us from all unrighteousness and if he sat
17:03
there and washed us clean from all that unrighteousness we’ve died with him and
17:10
he’s raised us to New Life what is left he’s done it all it’s already done so
17:18
why would we pick it back up why would we roll around in the mud again
17:24
um after he’s already done all that work and is it you know really I mean what a slap in
17:31
the face we’re saying Lord your work is not good enough
17:37
that’s really what we’re saying Lord your work is not good enough so that’s the ultimate you know lack of
17:46
action and obedience we’re not responding in belief we’re responding in
17:51
disbelief and distrust
17:57
that you got that looking we need to change that yeah change that
18:03
Trixie so really this is a heart matter
18:09
um you know when we lack that courage when we’re discouraged we need to say
18:14
okay what am I discouraged about and what is it really about
18:21
what am I viewing God in all of this as what am I viewing his power his might
18:28
his Deliverance in this situation uh where is the disbelief you know do I
18:36
believe that he will really never give me a good relationship do I believe that
18:42
he wants me to sit in front of a computer looking at porn in order to be satisfied every night
18:49
you know that’s not his will for us um he desires us to have that Covenant
18:56
marriage relationship and if he says that he will provide it we need to trust
19:01
that he’s going to provide that um you know does he want our marriages
19:07
to be in Discord where we’re yelling and fighting and not fulfilling each other’s
19:13
needs that’s not what he wants for our marriages
19:19
so the shift has to come in that relationship with him first we have to
19:25
believe that he’s able to say that he’s able to
19:31
um help us make that change and really you know that’s what the stew was about
19:36
was that Esau was lazy he didn’t want to spend time making his own meal after he
19:43
had been hunting and you know he was willing to give up everything just so he didn’t have to do
19:51
it in that moment so he didn’t have to do any work or be obedient to feed himself
19:59
I never looked at that that story that way before
20:04
that he was just too lazy to take the time
20:11
to just do it and prepare things right so that he could truly enjoy
20:19
my goodness totally forfeiting the future and the wealth of the future
20:25
essentially for just that quick the quick momentary
20:30
convenience wow wow to me now that on demand I’m
20:37
hungry I want it now or you know I want the satisfaction I want
20:42
the pleasure I want that now instead of waiting
20:49
this is talking to multiple people yes right myself included yes I’ve got to
20:57
throw myself in there so let’s look at Proverbs three okay and
21:05
why don’t you read verses 25 through 26. 25 through 26 have no as we’re talking
21:13
about food I go to turn to this passage and instead I get an ad that pops up
21:19
that says four minute mug cinnamon rolls oh my goodness there’s two of them oh my
21:26
gosh okay yum and chorizo and bean tacos boy they just aren’t giving up here Bean
21:33
tacos oh okay so cinnamon rolls and Tacos in the middle of the and those are
21:40
quick those are quick meals right they’re quick microwave in the cup four minutes
21:46
oh that’s so wrong on so many levels I didn’t do it it was just the ad that
21:53
popped up that’s so hilarious but it was funny that it goes with what we’re talking
21:58
about yeah it completely goes with what we’re talking about yes so I’ll just
22:04
make the statement I don’t want the four minute cinnamon roll bun thingies I want
22:10
the full boat roll them out let it rise I want the whole enchilada thank you
22:16
very much in Jesus name I just said that out amen oh shoot okay
22:23
so where are we from three uh Proverbs 3 25 through 26.
22:29
I have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked
22:37
for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared
22:45
my version says for the Lord will be your confidence ooh so our confidence is to rest on him
22:54
as we look at that word the Hebrew for confidence you can look it up in your
23:00
Strong’s Concordance it would be in the Hebrew number three six eight nine
23:06
and it means fatness um you know it’s like that flank part
23:13
uh another word it means this lion um which when we think of that we think
23:18
of The Bravery the confidence The Fighter uh the trust
23:24
so it’s a very we’ll say a very fat dense word confidence
23:30
and if the Lord is to be that for us that that peace that holds everything
23:36
together um you know we need to allow him to be that
23:42
confidence for us and then go ahead and let’s look up Matthew 8 or sorry Matthew one
23:50
and we’re going to start at verse 18. okay and go to chapter
23:56
the end of that passage basically this is how the birth of Jesus the
24:04
Messiah came about his mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph but
24:10
before they came together she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit
24:16
because Joseph her husband was not was okay back up I’m having I’m struggling
24:22
because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law and yet did not want to
24:29
expose her to Public Disgrace he had in mind to divorce her quietly but after he
24:36
had considered this an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said Joseph son of David do not be afraid to
24:44
take Mary home as your wife because what is conceived in her is from the Holy
24:50
Spirit she will give birth to a son and you are to give him the name Jesus because he
24:57
will save his people from their sins all this took place to fulfill what the Lord
25:03
had said through the prophet the Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son
25:08
and they will call him Emmanuel when Joseph woke up he did what the
25:15
angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife
25:21
but he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son and he
25:26
gave him the name Jesus such a beautiful passage and you know
25:32
exactly what we’re talking about here that’s even brought out in Joshua 1 1-9
25:39
you know that Jesus received the name Emmanuel meaning God With Us that that
25:47
was part of the prophecy spoken over his birth and what does that mean God With Us
25:54
you know the angel foretold that that you shall name him Jesus because he
26:00
shall save the people from their sins and when we’re looking at that word sin
26:06
here in this passage the Greek it means sin missing the Mark
26:14
um so you know we think about that you know certainly accepting Ebola stew and
26:20
exchanging your inheritance for that definitely is missing Mark
26:26
um so there’s so much in this that you know as we continue to work through this
26:32
fast really take some time to look through what are you struggling with what are
26:39
you um where are you compromising with these altars that you’ve just torn down is
26:46
there anything that you’re struggling with if so you need to lay that down before
26:53
the Lord to say Lord I’m not going to let this be my stew I want you Jesus
26:59
more than this and I want your will for my life not my own choice I want your
27:07
will and I’m going to trust that it’s the best that it is exactly what I need
27:13
I’m going to trust that it’s going to be fulfilling and that there isn’t going to be things
27:19
I regret I’m not going to regret passing up this moment of pleasure
27:25
because I know that what you’re about to give me is so stinking good that I will
27:31
praise you forever I will give you thanks I will glorify you
27:37
um you know and there’s another part in here too that you know in the Proverbs
27:43
passage it says do not fear sudden disaster or ruin you know that the
27:49
wicked experience and how many times do we say well you know
27:55
it’s not going to come tomorrow it’s not going to come the next day in fact I might have to wait years and I’m not
28:01
willing to do that so let me take care of this now let me get this pleasure now
28:08
you know how many times do we say that and in that you know we give up waiting
28:15
for that promise and we need to stop doing that we need
28:21
to instead activate our belief and to say okay Lord you know even like Abraham if I have to
28:28
wait to the point where I’m almost dead to have what you have promised to me I’m
28:33
believing that you’re going to give it to me and that it will be good
28:39
and that’s where you know the relationship building with the Lord comes
28:46
that is so good to remember that to take to take the time and not step over today
28:54
you know what I mean okay you can you can change the entire outcome by being
29:01
in agreement with the Lord and moving forward in that he’s going to help you along the way so even if you do stumble
29:08
not like you said not returning back to it not putting on those filthy garments
29:14
of Shame and everything else again um to remember that his mercies are new
29:19
in every morning and to make sure that we are just setting forth to
29:26
to serve him and not serve our own little wants and desires especially
29:32
these altars that that try to pop up to completely steal from our relationship with him and then right we end up
29:39
stealing from ourselves in the long run and don’t even realize it and others too
29:46
yeah yeah others because who are we meant to be in that relationship with and we steal from them as well
29:53
absolutely and you know and so along along those lines of of relationship
30:01
um like I’m single you’re single
30:07
so there there it’s it would be very easy to just be like well I’m single so
30:14
I’m just gonna live my life however and yeah I I’m thinking of the future I’m
30:20
thinking in terms of the Lord has someone for me
30:26
okay so why in the world do I want to almost mess with that plan at all why do I want
30:36
to even dally with anything anyone else in in that regard like uh like it’s
30:43
waiting for the promise that it almost feels like like being unfaithful like a
30:50
pre uh an infidelity almost I don’t know how
30:55
else to put it then again though I’m processing this live so there you go um so I’m baking the cake in front of
31:01
you you get to see the whole I’m like Swedish Chef right now with my thoughts no this is good because this is how we
31:07
think so yes carry on because how many are really thinking you know in that same position thinking the same thing
31:16
I hope yeah and it probably needs to be talked about because it doesn’t always get talked about and on the regular
31:23
Sunday morning at church I mean um of these things that we really struggle with there there might be a a
31:30
conversation about pornography or something like that but we’re lost maybe even but the whole you know be being
31:38
single and following the Lord like what does that really look like and the
31:43
decisions that you have to make um every day because you are constantly
31:48
reminded essentially of the of the singleness you know until until he
31:55
brings you know that which you’re going to be able to compliment it’s like we’re we’re whole in him and the other person
32:03
becomes a complete con even if it’s just a friendship it’s like the wholeness must come from him first
32:11
and then we have the compliments of the the other folks my goodness
32:18
the displaying you know that he when we think about that going back to you know
32:25
the last show where we talked about Ezekiel chapter 16.
32:30
where he says you know I adorned you um you know he adorned he made the
32:37
wedding dress he you know prepared and got ready everything so there’s that
32:42
idea of allowing the Lord to prepare um we see that same concept you know
32:49
with Isaac and Rebecca how you know Abraham send out his servant to find his
32:55
son a wife and you know they didn’t know who they were gonna get you know he went
33:02
out and he he brought the woman to Isaac uh to be the wife and you know so
33:10
allowing the Lord to work and again you know it goes back to that trust in that
33:15
relationship you know are we taking the time to talk through it with the Lord
33:21
you know if he if he knows what’s best if he knows what he has for us are we
33:27
willing to wait for that and to see you know what he’s gonna do
33:33
amen amen it could be a hard place to be in you know
33:39
yeah it’s having that the all of the all of the fruit of the spirit certainly develops through that through that
33:47
process of of waiting and uh yeah yeah oh my goodness so much to think about
33:54
and pray through yes well if others have thoughts questions processing you know
34:01
please send it to us and we’ll you know we want to really enter into this discussion during this time and
34:08
um so let us know and we’ll we’ll continue the conversation as we continue
34:13
this fast so that’s right we pray we pray through we pray through your
34:18
messages and your comments and so uh yeah we’re we’re there with you we’re
34:24
right there with you all right well let’s pray Heavenly
34:30
Father we just thank you for this time together Lord and we thank you that you are faithful Lord that even at times
34:38
like in Abraham and Sarah’s case Lord it seemed like forever Lord it it seemed
34:44
like you were not going to keep your promise yet in all of that your word says that
34:50
Abraham considered he considered everything that was happening to him and Sarah he considered them as good as dead
34:58
and yet he believed even in spite of that that you would fulfill your promise
35:05
to him so Lord help us to come to that place to know in all these things that as we
35:12
um give to you these desires that we struggle with these Pleasures that we
35:17
have um that we have learned to put in our lives as vices things that we give
35:25
our time our effort our energy our devotion our love to instead of you Lord
35:31
help us to see these things plainly and to throw them to cast them off from
35:37
ourselves and to really seek you to seek having the relationship that we want
35:43
with you Lord um you are what we desire and as I’m
35:49
saying all that Lord You’re reminding me that tonight Wednesday evenings are when we are to come into your courtrooms into
35:57
your house and we are to ask to receive from your hand the goodness
36:02
that you have for us for this week so Lord we come we just open up our arms
36:08
and I ask that you would show each of us tonight the goodness that you have for
36:14
us to receive and um I look forward to hearing from everybody
36:19
what that is we just praise you we thank you we ascribe to your name the glory
36:26
the honor um that is do it thank you for being who you are Lord in your name we pray Jesus
36:34
thank you Lord amen amen right
36:42
[Music] thank you
